The resolution

The first resolution of the year, and you keep it straight away.

Every year many people resolve the same thing: more rest, less rush, taking better care of themselves. And every year that resolution has gone by February, because the diary is faster.

At your New Year event you make it happen together. An hour lying or sitting and listening, while the gong rolls through the room. In the fifteen minutes before, I explain what you can do yourself in a few minutes when things get busy again.

Anyone who wants to can write one resolution on a card to take home afterwards. Sharing is welcome, never required.

So 2027 starts with something you experienced together. Then the drinks and the best wishes.

It gives you the chance to try something new that you might not have done on your own initiative.

The year starts calmly

How the hour works

One hour, in three parts.

  1. Fifteen minutes on de-stressing

Why your body slips back into its old mode so quickly after the holidays, and what you can do about it yourself in a few minutes with your breath and with sound. Short and jargon-free.

  2. Forty-five minutes of sound bath

Everyone lies under a blanket, or sits on a chair. I play a gong, singing bowls and smaller instruments. You don’t have to do anything with it. Anyone who falls asleep is welcome to.

  3. Then the best wishes

Everyone gets up at their own pace. Anyone who wants to writes a resolution on a card. Then the drinks and a toast to the new year.

Beforehand I thought: gosh, that’s long. In the end the length was perfect and it was over before I knew it.

Twenty mats with blankets and cushions laid out in an office room, with the gong and singing bowls in front
This is what it looks like: mats, blankets and cushions in an ordinary office room, with the gong and singing bowls in front.

Does this suit us?

A cleared meeting room is often enough.

  • You arrangeA quiet room with a door that closes, where twenty people can lie down. Not sure? Send a photo and I’ll take a look.
  • I arrangeInstruments, mats, blankets and eye pillows. I set up and clear away myself, nothing needs to be hired.

Jens Kemna, breathwork facilitator and sound bath guide

Who leads the group

I’m Jens.

For twelve years I worked in consulting, serious gaming and learning design. I know the diaries that fill up, and the kind of days when you only notice on the drive home how tense you actually were.

I trained as a breathwork facilitator and learned to work with sound in Rishikesh, India. I have led sessions for teams at Secrid, ANWB, Frisse Blikken, ABN AMRO and Nationale-Nederlanden, among others.

Questions that often come up

Frequently asked questions

What does a sound bath for the New Year event cost?

One round costs € 650 for the whole group of up to twenty colleagues, excluding VAT, with all materials. With more people I play several rounds: two rounds € 1,000, three rounds € 1,350.

Where does it fit in our New Year event?

Best as its own part: after the opening and before the drinks. It also works well as a close to a first team day or away day in January. How it fits your programme exactly, we agree by email or WhatsApp.

Do people have to share their resolution?

No. Anyone who wants to can write a resolution on a card to take home. Sharing is welcome, never required. The sound bath itself asks nothing either: lie down or sit, and listen.

We have more than twenty colleagues. Is that possible?

Yes. A round is for up to twenty people, because that’s how many mats I bring. With more people I play rounds one after another. How that fits your programme, we discuss together.

Does everyone have to take part?

No, taking part is voluntary. Anyone who prefers not to lie down can sit, or join the drinks later.

Can we keep the calm going afterwards?

Yes. With the weekly programme your team gets short seven-minute sessions every week, to do during a break. Happy to discuss that separately, the event comes first.

How far ahead do we need to arrange this?

I can be with one organisation per day, so January dates go in order of request. Email me your date and you’ll hear within one working day whether it’s free.

What kind of room do we need?

A quiet room with a door that closes, where twenty people can lie down. A cleared meeting room or a canteen outside lunch hours usually works well. Not sure? Send a photo and I’ll take a look.

Do participants need to change or be able to do anything?

No. You just lie down, or stay seated if lying down doesn’t work. No experience needed. I do ask everyone to take their shoes off, it helps people relax.

Is there anyone this isn’t suitable for?

If you’re pregnant or have epilepsy, a pacemaker, heart or vascular problems or high blood pressure, just let me know beforehand. Then we’ll find where you’re most comfortable and I’ll adjust the session.

Is the session in English?

Yes, I can lead the fifteen minutes in English or Dutch, or mix both for an international team. The sound bath itself needs no language.

Can you come outside The Hague?

Yes, I work throughout the Netherlands, at your office or at an external venue. Outside The Hague I charge € 0.25 per kilometre for travel, and that’s simply in the proposal.

Could it work for your New Year event?

Send me an email with date, number of people and location. Within one working day you’ll know if it works, and we’ll talk through how it fits your afternoon.
