Activity for the Christmas party or the last working afternoon Start your Christmas party with an hour where nothing is expected.

Before the toasts, you close the year together: fifteen minutes on de-stressing, then forty-five minutes of sound bath with gong and singing bowls. Lying down or seated, at your venue. I bring everything.

€ 650 for your team, up to 20 colleagues, excluding VAT.

Rather call or text? WhatsApp me and we’ll see what works.

Why as a year-end

Let the year stop for a moment, before you raise a glass.

You may know the feeling: everyone keeps going until the last working day. Then the drinks are ready, and you stand there with a glass in your hand while your head is still on that one email.

Especially in those busy weeks, an hour of calm is a lovely gesture from the organisation. It says: we see how hard you have all worked this year, and now it can stop for a moment.

You lie or sit side by side, the lights go down a little and the gong rolls through the room. An hour in which nobody asks anything of you. Then everyone gets up at their own pace and the party begins.

The fun stays exactly where it is. It just starts an hour later.

This was also a really nice way to end the week. I felt relaxed the whole weekend because of it.

The year can rest for a moment

How the hour works

One hour, in three parts.

  1. Fifteen minutes on de-stressing

Why your body often keeps going after a full year, even when the laptop is closed, and what you can do about it yourself in a few minutes with your breath and with sound. Short and jargon-free.

  2. Forty-five minutes of sound bath

Everyone lies under a blanket, or sits on a chair. I play a gong, singing bowls and smaller instruments. You don’t have to do anything with it. Anyone who falls asleep is welcome to.

  3. Then the party

Everyone gets up at their own pace. No debrief, no round of sharing. The drinks and conversations start by themselves.

Beforehand I thought: gosh, that’s long. In the end the length was perfect and it was over before I knew it.

Twenty mats with blankets and cushions laid out in an office room, with the gong and singing bowls in front
This is what it looks like: mats, blankets and cushions in an ordinary office room, with the gong and singing bowls in front.

Does this suit us?

Jens Kemna, breathwork facilitator and sound bath guide

Who leads the group

I’m Jens.

For twelve years I worked in consulting, serious gaming and learning design. I know the diaries that fill up, and the kind of days when you only notice on the drive home how tense you actually were.

I trained as a breathwork facilitator and learned to work with sound in Rishikesh, India. I have led sessions for teams at Secrid, ANWB, Frisse Blikken, ABN AMRO and Nationale-Nederlanden, among others.

Questions that often come up

Frequently asked questions

What does a sound bath for the Christmas party cost?

One round costs € 650 for the whole group of up to twenty colleagues, excluding VAT, with all materials. With more people I play several rounds: two rounds € 1,000, three rounds € 1,350.

Does lying down and listening suit a party?

Yes, when it comes before the party. First an hour of calm together, then the party begins. With music and people walking in it works less well, so we plan it beforehand. No party planned? It also works as a close to the last working afternoon.

How do we plan it?

The hour itself, plus some time to set up and clear away, which I arrange so you hardly notice it. What time and where, we agree by email or WhatsApp. I can be with one organisation per day, so December dates go in order of request.

We have more than twenty colleagues. Is that possible?

Yes. A round is for up to twenty people, because that’s how many mats I bring. With more people I play rounds one after another. How that fits your afternoon, we discuss together.

Does everyone have to take part?

No, taking part is voluntary. Anyone who prefers not to lie down can sit, or join the party later. Nobody has to share anything.

Is December already too full?

Then it also works as a calm start to the new year, at your New Year event.

What kind of room do we need?

A quiet room with a door that closes, where twenty people can lie down. A cleared meeting room or a canteen outside lunch hours usually works well. Not sure? Send a photo and I’ll take a look.

Do participants need to change or be able to do anything?

No. You just lie down, or stay seated if lying down doesn’t work. No experience needed. I do ask everyone to take their shoes off, it helps people relax.

Is there anyone this isn’t suitable for?

If you’re pregnant or have epilepsy, a pacemaker, heart or vascular problems or high blood pressure, just let me know beforehand. Then we’ll find where you’re most comfortable and I’ll adjust the session.

Is the session in English?

Yes, I can lead the fifteen minutes in English or Dutch, or mix both for an international team. The sound bath itself needs no language.

Can you come outside The Hague?

Yes, I work throughout the Netherlands, at your office or at an external venue. Outside The Hague I charge € 0.25 per kilometre for travel, and that’s simply in the proposal.

Could it work for your Christmas party?

Send me an email with date, number of people and location. Within one working day you’ll know if it works, and we’ll talk through how it fits your afternoon.
